GRADUATION CEREMONY
=======================================
Representatives of the Logistics Society and the Australian Logistics Academy were in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam for the 2010 graduation ceremony of the students enrolled with the MIL Institute of Logistics in Vietnam.
ALA Programmes have been conducted in the commercial capital of Vietnam for more than 4 years and the ALA / LSCMS programme was the first overseas Logistics & Supply Chain Management programme in Vietnam. Targetted at working adults, the ALA has worked with The Logistics Society as the first to provide training to working Logistics professionals from leading international Logistics providers, MNC’s operating in Vietnam and numerous Vietnamese companies who want their people to be equipped with the best skills the industry has to offer.
Basic to intermediate courses are conducted in Vietnamese and the Advanced programmes are conducted in English by lecturers from Singapore and Australia with tutorials augmented by on-line support which link students from over 14 countries in an on-line, fully supported learning environment. This allows students to learn the best-in-class, International Logistics concepts to use and apply in their work environment.
For more information on the on-line or supported classes, please email elee@lscms.org
CRIMSON LOGIC’S TRADEWEB INTEGRATES WITH KEYFIELD iWMS
=======================================
In an industry first, last week saw the integration launch between Crimson’s TradeWeb and KEYfields iWMS. This partnership is the first for Crimson with a WMS company.
This tool aims to integrate the shipping and warehousing function of any organisation to help them achieve best-in-class service in their respective
domains through a common internalised platform to exchange information.
Information originating from one department can be readily used in another department, eliminating the need to manually re-enter, check, re-check, confirm, and re-confirm information across departments. • Additionally, users will have information visibility and consistency across the organisation by using trade declarations from governing bodies as base documents resulting in improved work flow as the system guides users on follow-up actions.
For more information or enquiries, please contact kenny@keyfields.com or visit their website at www.keyfileds.com.
NIGHT LOGISTICS & NIGHT CYCLING
=======================================
The Society has conducted a number of night Logistics activities every year where students studying Logistics or where professional Logisticians who are LSCMS members can sign up for a tour to visit companies that carry out their main Logistics activities at night.
On the 27th of May another Night Logistics trip is planned but with a slight twist. 25 students and lecturers from Republic Polytechnic will be cycling from the Polytechnic in Woodlands to the Jurong Industrial area. Support vehicles will be provided by the Society and we expect an interesting and fun filled time to be held by all.
CARGO GULF OPENS IN PORT KLANG
=======================================
Global NVOCC CargoGulf has continued its strategic expansion in south-east Asia with the opening of its seventh office, at Port Klang in Malaysia. The latest addition will further enhance the ocean cargo carrier’s consolidation services to freight forwarders and logistics companies across Asia, the Middle East, Europe and the Americas.
CargoGulf Malaysia was opened in direct response to client demand for direct services in the country, and will help clients achieve economies of scale, thanks to the company’s relationships with suppliers and overseas partners.Encouraging signs of growth in the Malaysian economy also drove the decision to open a base in the country, says Hans-Henrik Nielsen, Managing Director of CargoGulf (Singapore) Pte Ltd.
“We believe that Malaysia will emerge as a strong alternative to the large economies of China and India, offering overseas clients competitive prices and high quality products,” he adds. “Our goal is to serve both domestic and international customers who recognise that potential, hence our decision to invest in this new office at Port Klang, one of the country’s strongest direct ports of call.
“It is part of our long-term strategy to grow, both regionally and globally, in key markets where it makes good business sense for us.”
